POWER movie Review: Andhra Newsfeed

Rating: 2.5/5

Popular Scriptwriter Bobby aka KS Ravindra, who has penned story for Blockbuster Telugu movies like Balupu, Mr Perfect and Don Seenu, is now turning independent director with Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja's latest outing Power the promos of which have created lot of curiosity among the film goers. This much-talked about film has released in theatres across the globe today (September 12).

Power is a romantic action entertainer with high comic quotient. Ravi Teja's brilliant performance is the main highlight of the film. Bobby's engrossing screenplay and punch dialogues, S Thaman's superb songs and amazing background score, Arthur A Wilson's camera work, Hansika-Regina's glamour, Brahmanandam-Saptagiri's comedy, beautiful costumes and exotic locales are other attractions of the film.

The lack of freshness in the story and slow narration in the second half are its biggest drawbacks. Bobby has chosen a routine story, which has been written by Kona Venkat, Mohana Krishna and K Chakravarthy, but he has created an engaging screenplay that impresses the fans of Ravi Teja. The director has well-blended all the commercial ingredients like romance, action, comedy, sentiments music and dance in Power. He has also included some of the very interesting twists and turns in the film.

Power opens with a scene in Kolkata high court. A couple of romantic songs, Ravi Teja's mass performance, Brahmi and Saptagiri's comedy scenes are the main highlights in the first half of the film, which is quite entertaining. An unexpected twist at the interval sets a momentum for the story. Bobby tries to showcase the other side of the corruption in the second half, but few sentimental scenes slow down pace of the narration. The climax is good and entertaining.

As usual, Ravi Teja is at his best and he has done justice to both the roles that he has played in Power. He rocks the viewers with his action, dance, comedy and romance. His chemistry with both the heroines is good. Hansika Motwani and Regina Cassandra impress the viewers with their glamour. Brahmanandam and Saptagiri tickle the funny bones of the audience. Prakash Raj, Mukesh Rushi, Brahmaji, Pragathi and others have also done justice to their respective roles.

Power has superb production values and S Thaman's music and background score are the main highlights in the technical front. Arthur A Wilson's cinematography is another big asset of the film. Especially, his picturisation in song sequences is a visual treat. The choreography of action and dance is superb. The dialogues, selection of costumes and locales and other technical departments have done brilliant jobs. Goutham Raju's editing is also good, but he could have made the film a better viewing experience if he had trimmed few scenes in the second half.

FINAL TOUCH:

Overall, Power is a powerful entertainer made to impress the fans of Ravi Teja. The film lacks freshness in story, but Bobby's amazing screenplay keeps you engrossed in the film. Apart from Mass Maharaja, Brahmanandam and Saptagiri will also rock the viewers. It is a paisa vasool entertainer for Ravi Teja fans.
