Hyderabad: Union minister for urban development M Venkaiah Naidu today said television has become a part of our life.
Venkaiah was speaking at a function organized on the occasion of inauguration of Doordarshan new channel “Saptagiri” for Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada. He said competition between the TV channels has been increased. But there should be healthy competition and it should not be to increase rating.
The Union minister said the media should compete in gathering facts and should shun sensationalism. Doordarshan has 1,417 transmitters and 32 channels, he added.
AP ministers Devineni Uma, Kamineni Srinivas, Palle Raghunath Reddy, MP Keshav Nani, MLAs Bonda Uma, Gadde Rammohan and others attended the function.
