MUMBAI: Pitching himself for the top post in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said if a tea-seller can rise to be the country's Prime Minister, he too can become the state chief minister.

"It is true that the Thackerays have never fought elections. But we have never backed out from responsibilities. If a common man like (Narendra) Modi, who started off as a chaiwala (tea-seller) goes on to become the PM, I can become the CM as well," Thackeray said in an interview to his party mouthpiece Saamana.

Criticizing the BJP, Thackeray said central ministers who have been campaigning for the party now, will forget Maharashtra post elections.

"A contingent of central ministers have been brought in to campaign for the party for the (Maharashtra) elections. But they will not come back post elections. It is only the Sena that will stay here and continue to work for the people and people do realise this," he said.

Maharashtra elections 2014: Maharashtra will have a BJP chief minister, says state party chief Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra elections 2014

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra will have a BJP chief minister, state party chief Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday.

Talking to reporters on assembly election results, Maharashtra BJP chief said the party had made impressive gains in the state despite contesting the elections alone.

BJP is all set to emerge as the single largest party in Maharashtra, but may fall short of majority.

With trends indicating a hung assembly in the state, there are already talks of reconciliation between BJP and Shiv Sena.

The 25-year-old allies separated on a bitter note ahead of the assembly elections over seat sharing.

And with Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray earlier openly staking claim for the chief minister's post, it remains to be seen how the two parties reconcile their differences.

Shiv Sena has said it will consider BJP's proposal on government formation in Maharashtra once it is made as they have "no bitterness".

"Once they (BJP) submit a proposal for a stable government in the interest of Maharashtra, Sena president Uddhav Thackeray will take a decision, whatever that may be, after considering all factors," Sena MP Anil Desai said.

"We have no bitterness. If there is a proposal, we will consider it," Desai, who was part of the failed seat-sharing talks with BJP ahead of the assembly poll, said.

Amid reports that NCP had sent feelers to BJP for extending support, Desai said, "NCP has been rejected by the people of Maharashtra. If BJP ties up with NCP, it will be a betrayal of the people of Maharashtra."

Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, "We have seen the trends. They show BJP is getting more seats, which is okay. But Sena is also doing well. I will comment on our stance after a clear picture emerges after 2pm," Raut said.

The police on Friday arrested child's mother Janatulfir Ansari, 23 while hunt is on for child's step-grandfather Rasheed Ansari, 40 who is on run.

The Bhiwandi city police said on Tuesday night accused Rasheed killed his granddaughter by beating her with Janatulfir's sandal and after which duo made false story before cops that the toddler died as she fell while walking.

Venkaiah Naidu on TV channels

Hyderabad: Union minister for urban development M Venkaiah Naidu today said television has become a part of our life.

KCR's self goal

Hyderabad: KCR seems to be made self-goal with his rude remarks made against media.

Although, they are specifically addressed to the two leading Telugu news channels that are facing ban since last three months in Telangana, his remarks were taken generally by entire media in the state and in the country. National media also strongly condemns his remarks.

Opposition parties in Telangana grab this opportunity to dig at CM KCR for his monarch attitude. They took it as a weapon to fight out TRS party in the Medak Loksabha by-elections.

There are two separate issues involved in this whole controversy. 1. Can the state government play spectator role, when the MSO takes law into their hands and ban the media? 2. Is CM KCR’s rude comments against media can be justified?

Whether or not Telangana government answers these two questions, obviously all these developments are creating some pressure on it that may oblige it to revoke its decision.

No place for them on TELANGANA soil

Hyderabad: Telangana CM KCR finally spoke about the undeclared ban on the two leading Telugu News Channels today. He said “I salute the MSOs, who take this decision. After all, why should we let anyone insult our people and their representatives? If they have no respect for us and our culture, then there is no place for such people on our soil.

They have taken the matter to Delhi level to pressurize my government, but it helps only to complicate the matter further. However, it is pending with Speaker and he has to take a decision on how to deal with them. Even all Telangana MLAs also have strongly condemned the channels attitude towards them. So, my government can do nothing in this regard.”

So, CM KCR has served the ball back into the news channels court. Union Minister Prakash Jawadekar has warned the Telangana MSOs that government will cancel their licenses if they do not revive telecasting of those two news channels within one week, but they replied him that rather prefer to go for a legal fight than succumbing to his pressures. Hence, both those news channels have to find a way out from this problem.

KCR a watchman:REVANTH

Hyderabad: Revanth Reddy known for his sharp and stinging straight forward remarks has a field against KCR. He asked if the CM is wreaking a personal vengeance against media to safe zone his own media business in Telangana and also as to why the CM is adamant over banning the ABN and TV9 in Telangana. Revanth said that no other state never dared to indulge in such an action.

It's a black day because women journos were ill treated by T government when they protested against govt demanding restoration of ABN and TV9 telecast in the state, Revanth Reddy lashed out at the CM and even brought a funny idiom as an analogy. He said, "When stars are fortunate, even an earthworm hisses.”

Revanth said to protect interests of T-news and ‘Namaste Telangana’ the Chief Minister is resorting to banning of ABN and TV9 in the state.

Revanth questioned why wouldn’t the CM hold a meeting with the MSOs if he is not behind the entire drama. The loud mouthed TDP leader signed off saying, “Telangana is the 29th state of India and not another country, maybe KCR is thinking he is owner of a state and treating it as his own empire, but people have elected him to be just the watchman for the state.”
