Producer: Sai Korrapati

Director: Trikoti

Music: M M Keeravani

Casting: Naga Shourya, Sana Makbul, Ajay, Indraja, Brahmaji, Ali, Posani Krishna Murali, Jhansi, Prithvi, Nagineedu and others

Rating: 2.5/5.0

Story

Gopalakrishna (Ajay) who missed his teenage crush with females as he got married to Bhavani (Indraja), always tries to enjoy teenage love flirting with various girls even after he became father of two children of whom one is Madhu (Naga Shourya), first year engineering student at Chaitanya Bharati Engineering College.

Gopalakrishna moves closely with Samhita (Sana Maqbool), after knowing that she defaulted her loan. He goes out of his way to help this 20 year old beauty. At that same time Madhu comes into contact with Samhita who helps him overcome his shyness and also take part in dance competition.

When Madhu decides to propose his love to Samhita he comes to know that his dad is making overtures to her even getting ready to marry her putting his family at stake. How Madhu solves these problems should be found out on silver screen.

Performance

Ajay did well as a middle aged person who craves for comforts from women flirting with them. Naga Shourya showed his expressions quite well while Sana Maqbool, Miss India beauty made good impression on debut. She oozed with glamour and even her performance is ok.

Indraja in her comeback film looked good. Brahmaji, Ali, Posani and others played according to the script.

Technical

Keravani's music and background score is soothing. Amarnath Reddy's cinematography is good. Editing could have been better. Dialogues are ok. Production values are of high standard.

Director Trikoti though came with novel story did not think of having mass elements which are essential for film's success. Had he increased the pace little bit and also added some scenes between young stars, things would have been different.

Plus Points

Novel plot

Sana Maqbool's beauty

Ajay, Naga Shourya's performances

Keeravani's music

Minus Points

Slow pace

Lack of romance between Naga Shourya and Sana Khan

Lack of commercial elements

Songs placement

Analysis

Trikoti tried to touch extra marital relationship of another kind and highlighted the trauma of a son who comes to know that his dad is trying to marry the girl whom he is in love with. This is something new in Tollywood and when the plot is revealed many wondered whether it will appeal to movie lovers.

However Trikoti emerged successful in showing them in a decent manner. He extracted good performances from all stars and narrated the story with conviction.

However slow pace, songs placement and lack of youthful elements undid the film. He failed to understand that people wish to see more of youthful romance than middle aged romance. He did not establish the relation between Ajay and Indraja and also did not highlight the budding romance between Naga Shourya and Sana Khan.

Final Talk

Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya has limited appeal.

Naga Shaurya is on a roll. After scoring a hit earlier this year with Oohalu Gusagusalaade, the actor will soon be seen in a romantic comedy, Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya. Directed by Trikoti, the film's storyline has already become the talk of the town — it is about a son and father falling in love with the same girl and how they manage the repercussions of this tricky relationship.

Sana Makbul is a bundle of nerves ahead of her maiden Tollywood release, Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya. Going by the nature of the role she's playing, it promises to be quite an offbeat first. The 2012 Miss India finalist is playing an aerobics trainer caught in a love triangle involving a father and son — played by Ajay and Naga Shaurya. Ask her who she will eventually fall for, and she quips, "You'll have to watch the movie for that."

Sana Stills

Sana is quick to clarify that the film isn't going to be as shocking as the premise makes it out to be, saying, "It's a beautiful multi-layered story which revolves around four characters and how their relationship with each other evolves with time. It's going to be a new concept for Telugu audience and that's what got me excited in the first place. Right now, I'm really nervous about whether people will accept me or not and depending on that, I'll decide what to do next."
Sharing her experience of working with her co-stars Sana says, "Naga Shaurya is an amazing co-star and I had a blast shooting with Ajay as well. In fact, Ajay came to my rescue most of the times when Koti (director) had to explain a scene to me." Unfamiliar with Telugu, the actress admits shooting was a big challenge. "Language is a big barrier and since I don't speak Telugu, Koti and I used to converse in sign language. Thankfully, I understood his vision and my co-star Ajay helped me a lot to understand what I was supposed to do," she recalls.
Talking more about how she got the offer, she recalls meeting producer Sai Korrapati in Mumbai, who convinced her that she would suit the role of an aerobics trainer in this new age romantic drama. "I was supposed to act in another film under Sai garu's production. But he was convinced that I would be the perfect fit for this film. I guess I was destined to debut in Tollywood," she says.
The actress has, quite understandably, taken an immense liking to the entire team at Vaarahi Chalana Chitram banner, which had earlier produced blockbusters like Eega and Legend.

"Honestly, I feel at home here and I really missed talking to Koti and Sai when I didn't have a shoot. They pampered me a lot on the sets and Sai garu made sure I got what I wanted. I guess it also helped that I was the youngest girl on the set," Sana laughs.

Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya, jointly produced by Sai Korrapati and Rajani Korrapati under Vaarahi Chalana Chitram, is releasing today.
